Boston police detectives, in a late-night bust on Dabney Street, unearthed a substantial cache of drugs after executing a search warrant. The seizure included about 1.5 kilos of crack cocaine, thirty pounds of marijuana, and a sizeable amount of cash, according to an official report. The warrant execution, conducted by the District B-2 (Roxbury) officers, also led to the discovery of ammunition and a high capacity feeding device.
The findings stem from an incident occurring on the previous day when officers arrested two men, Daquan Flowers and Don'Quell Mayes, reportedly engaged in a breaking and entering event. On Sunday, February 23, around 10:00 p.m., Roxbury officers responded to 66 Dabney Street after receiving reports of a burglary in process, stated the Boston Police Department. Upon arrival, the officers discovered two masked individuals holding a bag who, upon noticing the police, attempted to escape.
The foot pursuit resulted in two arrests, one near 14 Circuit Street and the other at 61 Walnut Avenue. A preliminary search yielded heroin and crack cocaine on one of the individuals, Mayes, leading to additional charges. Both men were charged with Breaking and Entering Nighttime for a Felony and are expected to face the charges in Roxbury District Court.
As the investigation continued, officers stumbled upon a person with a gunshot wound on the stairway next to the address in question. This individual was later identified as a third suspect related to the break-in and, after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, remains under police custody in the hospital, according to the police update. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in connecting the detained individuals with the crime scene, and a Glock magazine capable of holding thirty rounds was also found, discarded in front of the residence.
Boston Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the drug stash and the actions of the suspects involved.
