
A Brookline police officer was hit by a vehicle while managing traffic outside a local school early this morning, officials confirmed. The incident occurred near the Dexter Southfield School located on Newton Street, prompting emergency response and an ongoing investigation by the town's police traffic unit.
According to Boston 25 News, the officer, who has not been identified, was on duty at around 7:30 a.m. in front of the school when struck. First responders transported the officer to Beth Israel Hospital for treatment of a head laceration, the aftermath saw, a Subaru sedan with a damaged windshield remaining at the scene.
The Brookline Police Department indicated that the officer was alert and conscious following the collision. A sergeant from the department confirmed the officer's transport from the scene for medical attention, as reported by NBC Boston.
While details of the incident leading up to the crash are still forthcoming, the vehicle involved stayed on the scene. Brookline's traffic investigators are at the helm of the case, working to uncover the circumstances that led to the unfortunate event.
