The City of Buckeye has responded to KORE Power's recent decision to pull out of a planned development project in the city. Despite the setback, Buckeye officials maintain a positive outlook on the city's economic prospects. In a statement released on their official website, Buckeye representatives underscored that this event was "an isolated situation" and did not detract from Buckeye being "a premier destination for businesses."
The planned development with KORE Power, a battery cell manufacturer, never progressed to a formal agreement, thus sparing the city's financial investment beyond staff resources. City officials are determined to continue to aggressively build infrastructure in the targeted corridor regardless, a move anticipated even before the 2022 announcement of KORE Power's now-abandoned project. "The city will continue building infrastructure and making utility improvements in the corridor," part of the city's proactive plan for satisfying "future regional transportation and utility needs," according to the City of Buckeye.
Buckeye officials emphasized a commitment to nurturing strong relationships with all businesses considering the city as a potential base. They express a strategic intent to magnetize quality jobs, appearing to see this latest turn as merely a bump in the road rather than a halt. As stated by the City of Buckeye, "We will remain focused on bringing quality jobs and industries that align with our vision for sustainable growth and long-term economic success."
