
Chandler Councilmember OD Harris has been reappointed to the National League of Cities' Transportation and Infrastructure Services Federal Advocacy Committee for another term. According to the City of Chandler's official announcement, Harris will continue to contribute to policy discussions and assist in setting the federal advocacy agenda for the upcoming year.
In a statement obtained by the City of Chandler, Harris spoke on the reappointment, "Chandler’s quality of life and economic development have been enhanced by long-range planning and investments in infrastructure and transportation." He reflected on the potential of his position to amplify Chandler’s successes and requirements to federal officials, "This reappointment is a great opportunity to share Chandler’s story with members of Congress, the White House and federal agencies as our committee advocates for investments in local communities."
The role of the National League of Cities Committee is vital for local governments, providing them with a voice on Capitol Hill, where the complexities of local issues can sometimes be overlooked. Members like Harris work to ensure that local perspectives are an integral part in the federal decision-making process, concerning public investment in communities nationwide.
Harris continues his public service career, which began with his appointment to the Chandler City Council in January 2021. He also holds important roles, including serving as the NLC representative on the Institute for Building Technology and Safety Board of Directors. Harris chairs the Valley Metro Regional Public Transit Authority Board of Directors and serves on the Valley Metro Rail Board of Directors.
