
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has released an update on a recent homicide case in the North Tryon Division, revealing the identity of the victim as Brianye Copeland, age 27. According to the official Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department newsroom release, Copeland's family has been notified about her unfortunate passing.
Following the announcement, CMPD's Juvenile Accountability and Diversion Empowerment team, also known as JADE, took Kristopher Anthony Sinclair, a 38-year-old male, into custody on Friday, Sinclair was later transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown for an interview with homicide detectives and was charged with murder in connection to Ms. Copeland's death, although the specifics of Sinclair’s supposed involvement has yet to be detailed, it is understood he's currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The authorities have intimated that the investigation is very much active and continuing, with additional developments to be disseminated by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division. CMPD has called upon the public for assistance, urging anyone with details pertinent to the incident to make their way forward, details on how to contact the Homicide Unit detective, Detective Moore, or leave information anonymously via Crime Stoppers have been provided.
