The Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors has ushered in a new era, appointing Christine Stinchcomb as the Director and Chief Appraiser. Bringing with her a wealth of experience spanning more than a quarter-century, Stinchcomb assumes the role previously held by Stephen White, who has moved on to become the Support Services Director for Cobb County Government. Cobb County's official news release announcing the appointment details her extensive background in property tax services.
Before the rise to her new position, Christine Stinchcomb worked at the Georgia Department of Revenue and has been a staple in property tax circles starting right out of Paulding County Tax Assessors Office. Her skills were further honed while managing the Commercial Division at the Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors Office. As per the county's communication, Stinchcomb, a Cobb County dweller with two adult sons, now steps into a state-mandated role that oversees the triennial appraisal of each and every county parcel.
The significance of the Chief Appraiser position is not to be understated—this role is fundamental to the operation of the Tax Assessors Office, playing a pivotal part in the financial underpinnings that support county services. Through diligent assessment of county properties, Stinchcomb will be at the helm of an office that directly impacts the tax base and, by extension, the quality of life for the residents of Cobb County.
