The City's snowplow crews are set to launch a comprehensive plowing operation across all areas maintained by them starting at 8 a.m. last Saturday, to make roads passable following the recent snowfall. According to a City of Coons Rapid announcement, this full plow is expected to take several hours and will include main streets, residential areas, and cul-de-sacs, while sidewalks are slated for clearing within the next 48 hours.
Residents are urged to facilitate the process by removing parked vehicles from streets to enable curb-to-curb clearing and are reminded of their obligation to clear snow from fire hydrants close to their property, creating a three-foot radius to ensure emergency services have unhindered access, and in the wake of this directive, patience, and cooperation have been requested as any obstructions can impede the plows' effectiveness and slow down the snow removal efforts.
The residents must abide by the winter parking rules, particularly as the overnight street parking ban will remain in force until April 1, and adhering to these guidelines during unexpected spring snowfalls is instrumental for the cleanup crews to perform optimally. Furthermore, the city ordinance mandates that garbage and recycling bins remain behind the curb and not in the street, to prevent any hindrance to the plowing activities.
Additional items that might block the roadways, such as basketball hoops and hockey nets, have been flagged; they too must be cleared from the streets to facilitate thorough cleaning by plow crews and to maintain the cleanliness and safety standards expected by the city officials and to bolster the swiftness of the operations, clear paths and roadways are not just an expectation but a necessity for the community's collective benefit.
