
In what's become an unsettling incident for the Clairton community, police are on high alert following reports of a high school student being approached by an unknown individual while en route to school. According to WPXI, the incident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. this morning as a young girl was pursued by a man in a Ford Focus close to Mulberry Way, continuing towards the Clairton Education Center.
The school district responded with vigilance, issuing a statement emphasizing the importance of student safety and advising immediate action if a stranger makes an unwelcome approach. As the young girl experienced, "We want to remind everyone to be cautious when walking to and from school. If a stranger approaches you, do not engage with them and immediately report the incident to a trusted teacher or staff member. Your child’s safety is our number one priority, so please report any suspicious activity they may encounter," urging for increased awareness amongst students and parents alike. Clairton Police have confirmed they are investigating the unnerving encounter, concurrently maintaining a presence in the school's vicinity, a standard daily security measure, as WPXI reported.
As the authorities gather more details and ensure the protection of the students, they are reaching out to the public for assistance. Specifically, they're asking anyone with information regarding the incident, particularly those who may have seen anything unusual or distinctive about the Ford Focus or its driver, to call 911 and request an officer follow-up.
