Seattle residents who've been following the development of the city's Comprehensive Plan received an update from Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth, chair of the Select Committee for the Comprehensive Plan. Addressing the public via a recent statement, Hollingsworth emphasized the importance of continued public engagement following a truncated public hearing due to inclement weather.
"First and foremost, I want to thank the hundreds of Seattleites who took the time to provide comments at last night’s public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan. Your feedback matters and is critical to the process," Hollingsworth noted. The hearing ended early, at 10:30 p.m., for the safety of the attendees amidst snow and ice. Hollingsworth ensured that those who couldn't comment would have future opportunities, stating, "Our office is currently exploring options that can prioritize speakers who were not called on," according to the statement obtained by the Council's announcement.
The feedback session was meant as an early chance for the public to weigh in on the Mayor's proposal, released a month before. The Council is undergoing a series of briefings to dissect the proposal. With the abrupt conclusion of the latest hearing, Hollingsworth encouraged constituents to continue communication via email to [email protected].
Hollingsworth assured the community that more public hearings will be held, though the dates are still uncertain. Residents interested in the planning process are encouraged to keep an eye on the Comprehensive Plan webpage for the most updated information when those dates are determined.
