A Coweta County man, Zachary Bormann, has been sentenced to a substantial term in prison for child sex crimes. Bormann, who had been previously reported by FOX 5 following his arrest in 2023, is now facing a 20-year sentence – 10 years to be served behind bars and the remainder on probation.
As FOX 5 reports, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which in turn alerted local deputies to Bormann's activities. Despite his past conviction and status as a registered sex offender, Bormann found himself employed at a Coweta County business when he was taken into custody on Monday.
The plea deal accepted by Bormann in Coweta County Court includes stringent terms, ushering him into a juridically ordained ostracism for the next two decades. His ascent into the criminal justice system's purview is underscored by the discovery of child sexual abuse material on his mobile phone, seized by a Coweta County investigator.
Already infamous with the law, Bormann had a previous conviction for child molestation and aggravated sexual battery from 2015, for which he had been incarcerated prior to the discovery in 2023. Aside from the conviction and the new charges, his home in Moreland was also searched, leading to the seizure of his electronic devices which are now subject to forensic examination.
Held without bond, Bormann faces grim prospects. Deputies have indicated that more charges could still be forthcoming as the investigation continues. All this follows a string of legal confrontations, dating back to a 2015 sentencing culminating in his being registered as a sex offender in the state of Georgia.
