A 53-year-old woman from Dahlonega has been arrested on allegations of drug trafficking, marking a significant development after months of investigative work by local law enforcement agencies. It was announced that agents, following a detailed investigation, have taken Crystal Roman into custody. She faces charges of Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Fentanyl, as stated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The apprehension took place at Roman's residence in Dahlonega where, on February 5, 2025, a search warrant execution led to the recovery of substantial quantities of illicit substances. Found within were over 200 grams of what is suspected to be methamphetamine and an undisclosed amount of fentanyl. Despite her arrest, the authorities continue their probe into activities related to the case, confirming the ongoing nature of the investigation.
In the collaborative effort, the GBI's Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), along with the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office, coordinated to pinpoint and dismantle the alleged drug operation. According to the GBI press release, the ARDEO is a multi-agency entity; it covers 30 counties in North Georgia and consists of numerous local law enforcement agencies working in tandem with state and national forces.
The investigation remains active, with authorities encouraging the public to come forward with any pertinent information. For those looking to report any drug-related activity, contact can be made via the GBI ARDEO at (706) 348-7410, or anonymously through 1-800-597-TIPS(8477), online, or by utilizing the See Something, Send Something mobile application. Roman remains detained at the Lumpkin County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
