As Dallas braces for a brutal cold snap, the city's Department of Sanitation has issued a service alert warning residents about potential waste collection delays. The frigid temperatures have made it unsafe for workers to be outside, especially those manually handling trash and recycling routes. As a result, pickups have been temporarily halted until the weather improves. In anticipation of disruptions from Wednesday through Friday, the city urges those affected to keep their carts at the pickup points, as crews will attempt to catch up over the weekend.
According to the City of Dallas, residents who find their garbage bins unemptied should not fret; sanitation crews are planning to work through Saturday in an effort to clear the backlog, but in cases where Saturday service is not possible, the collections will roll over to the following week. Extra waste accumulations will not be ignored, the city promises to handle the additional garbage and recycling as part of the regular service cycle next week.
While the cold grips the city in its icy hold, residents can keep an eye on the latest updates by visiting Dallas.gov/Sanitation or using the Dallas Sanitation app available on both iPhone and Android platforms.
