The Bay Area food scene is ready to welcome a new player. Jagalchi, a Korean food complex boasting 75,000 square feet of culinary delights, is set to open its doors in Daly City on March 28. Found at Serramonte Center, this gastronomic paradise will offer everything from specialty groceries to a seafood counter with an oyster bar, not to mention a Michelin-starred restaurant and dual bars, as a spokesperson revealed Monday.
According to an SF Chronicle report, Pogu, the 160-seat centerpiece restaurant, is helmed by Executive Chef Tony Yoo – Korea's first Michelin star winner. It will feature a cocktail bar serving traditional Korean spirits alongside other beverages. Basquia, Jagalchi’s bakery, will also spotlight rice flour-based baked goods, assorted chocolates, and Korean-style drinks with coffee. The comprehensive prepared foods section is expected to dish out over 200 banchan varieties, freshly made tofu, housemade kimchi, tteokbokki, and numerous other offerings. Moreover, the grocery area will be stocked with everything from dumplings to ramen and Korean beauty products, with doors open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
An Instagram post from JAGALCHI also shared the news of the grand opening, outlining highlights like Chef Yoo’s restaurant, a uniquely flavored rice bakery, an assorted fresh seafood market, a deli along with Temple food for a distinctive cultural experience, and a large grocery selection of beloved Korean essentials – all in one expansive venue.
