Travelers and cargo carriers flying in and out of Del Rio International Airport can look forward to more flexible schedules as of today. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Del Rio Port of Entry has officially extended its hours to better accommodate the uptick in air traffic. This move aims to streamline operations for international private and general aviation, alongside improving efficiencies for air cargo services.
Delivering the announcement, Port Director Liliana Flores stated, "We are excited to announce that we will be expanding our hours of operation to keep pace with growing air traffic in our area and provide our clearance service while continuing to uphold CBP’s border security mission." According to a release on the CBP website, the airport's availability has now broadened to seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for entrance and clearance services.
More specifically, for air cargo services, the schedule will run from Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., making it easier for businesses to manage their shipments with more predictability and less hassle. These new hours are expected to bolster local commerce and support the economy in the Del Rio area which border security mission remains uncompromised.
The importance of this expansion goes beyond mere logistics. As the area experiences a considerable increase in air transport demands, the CBP's adaptive approach at Del Rio International Airport showcases an intuitive response to regional growth trends and the needs of both passengers and freight shippers. Del Rio International Airport's enhanced operations promise practical benefits for all users, echoing Port Director Flores' commitment as explained in the CBP statement about providing "clearance service" alongside maintaining security protocols.
