A driver’s attempt to evade law enforcement, spanning three Michigan counties, ended with an arrest in Kent County, officials reported. The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office issued a statement detailing the events of the chase on Tuesday, which began when deputies received a call to be on the lookout for a driver behaving erratically on U.S. 131 near the 8 Mile Road area.
According to WOODTV, the suspect was seen passing vehicles on the right shoulder at high speeds. When deputies located and attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused, leading to a chase that crossed through Mecosta, Montcalm, and stretched into Kent County. The pursuit, initiated around 1 p.m., was terminated by Mecosta County deputies, but the driver was later stopped with the assistance of Michigan State Police troopers and the Walker Police Department.
As reported by Upnorthlive, the pursuit began when sheriff's deputies managed to close in on the suspect near the Morley exit. Despite their efforts, the suspect continued to flee. A coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies led to the apprehension of the driver.
Meceola Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police, and Walker Police worked together to stop a high-speed incident. The individual was arrested and taken to Mecosta County Jail. No further details on the charges or identity of the driver have been released, as mentioned by OurMidLand.
