The El Paso County Sheriff's Office recently celebrated local law enforcement's commitment to traffic safety at the 19th Annual Ken Jordan Awards Ceremony. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the event honored officers who particularly excelled in DUI enforcement, continuing the legacy of Colorado Springs Police Officer Ken Jordan who was killed by a drunk driver in 2006.

This year’s accolades included the Ken Jordan Award for Excellence in DUI Enforcement, with nominations spanning multiple agencies, including the Colorado Springs Police Department and the Fort Carson Police Department. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Joshua Offutt emerged as the award honoree, a nod to his outstanding efforts in impaired driving enforcement. Other nominees for the award were Officers such as Jacob Crispi, Travis Hanable of Colorado Springs and Troopers like Alvara Acuna and Jonathan Kay from the Colorado State Patrol.

Additionally, the ceremony recognized achievements stretching over careers dedicated to service and public safety. The 2025 Career Achievement Award nominees included Sergeant Chad Bauer of the Pikes Peak State College Police Department, among others, with Sgt. Bauer claiming the award. "Our Traffic Unit and patrol deputies operate proactively, day and night, throughout weekends and holidays, addressing numerous traffic safety concerns, including DUI enforcement," said Sheriff Joe Roybal, as obtained by El Paso County Sheriff's Office. His comments on traffic safety were echoed in the ceremony, pointing to the collaborative efforts that have resulted in a drop in traffic deaths in the region.
