Yesterday, a home on Russell Bond Road in Millington was left in ruins after a devastating incident the night before. As reported by Action News 5, Shelby County Fire Department spent the early hours of their shift combating a house fire near Rankin Branch Road.

The incident, which struck just before the witching hour, saw firefighters from Shelby County and Millington grappling with a home consumed by flames. Amidst the emergency, a man managed to escape what had become a fiery trap, but not without sustaining serious injuries. A Millington city spokesperson told Local Memphis that "Firefighters fought the fire for over two hours."

The escaped occupant, now realized as an 87-year-old man, was swiftly transported to the Regional One Health burn unit in a state of dire urgency. Grappling with a reality marred by burns that claimed territory across his body, his condition was declared very critical. The visual evidence was obtained from FOX13 Memphis, which showed the fire fiercely breaching the home's ceiling.

The city spokesperson reiterated to Local Memphis, "The cause of the fire had still not been determined due to the damage."
