Today, law enforcement officials found a wanted sex offender named Salvador Saucedo in a burning house, which is believed to be his girlfriend's residence in Richards, Grimes County, as reported by CW39. Saucedo, after escaping from a hospital in Waller County on January 23, was located with a self-inflicted gunshot wound amidst the flames.

According to the Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry, who provided details to KHOU, officials who discovered the fugitive in the blaze are now probing into how the fire began, while monitoring Saucedo's critical condition in the hospital; as of the time of discovery his condition remained unknown.

Saucedo's original offenses include a conviction for indecency with a child in Gonzales County dating back to March 2024 and an issuance of a warrant for harassment by the College Station Police Department in May 2024, according to the CW39 article. When he fled from custody, he was pending charges for escape, assault on a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance among others.

Authorities, in their pursuit of the escaped convict, had deployed K-9s, drones, and vehicles, and at one time U.S. Marshals had speculated that he might disguise himself due to his distinct hair color or even may have succumbed to the harsh weather and terrain, or possibly had acquired aid, possibly hidden or transported by a complicit partner, shared Guidry with KHOU.

Fugitive Saucedo's saga drew considerable attention as he was listed among Texas' top ten most wanted sex offenders last week; his profile on the sex offender registry includes aliases such as Sergie, Sergio, and Sauceda.
