An Everett high school teacher, identified as John Doty, has been charged with crimes related to the possession and distribution of child pornography, with allegations detailing the possession of explicit images involving young children, He was arrested after a search warrant was served on his home by King County Sheriff's deputies, as reported by FOX 13 Seattle.
The 32-year-old former teacher at Archbishop Murphy High School was placed on administrative leave immediately following his arrest and was subsequently terminated from his position and a statement to that effect was sent to parents on Monday. Meanwhile, Doty's bail was set at $250,000 as noted by KOMO News.
Digging deeper into the severity of the charges, it was revealed by KING 5 that Doty is accused of having multiple files containing photos and videos of children, ranging in age from as young as 1 to young teens, depicted in sexual acts. Doty, after his arrest had an interview with detectives conveyed a chilling admission, acknowledging his awareness of the crime and describing his illegal activities with a sense of flippancy claiming, "it was the feeling of 'oops, I did a crime,' which he described as very silly but still thrilling." Doty's arraignment scheduled for March 10.
