Former Miami Heat player Jimmy Butler is facing a lawsuit from Five Star Marketing and Promotions over the condition of a Miami Beach home he rented. According to Local 10 News, the lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, claims Butler stayed in the house two months past the lease expiration in August 2024 and failed to pay rent. The suit states that Butler should have been paying $130,000 per month, double the original rent, if he stayed without the landlord's written consent.

The lawsuit also claims the house was left in disrepair, with damage including a significant air conditioner leak and an algae-filled pool, as reported by NBC Miami. The total damages, including unpaid rent, are estimated at $387,000. After factoring in Butler's $130,000 security deposit, Five Star is seeking around $257,000 in reparations.

The luxury home Butler rented features ocean access, a guest house, an elevator, and a media room. During and after his stay, Butler allegedly made unauthorized changes, including changing the locks without providing a key to Five Star, which prevented them from performing necessary HVAC maintenance.

The lawsuit states that the maintenance neglect led to a blockage in the condensation lines, causing ceiling damage that had to be repaired.

Butler's time with the Miami Heat included several suspensions and ended with his trade to the Golden State Warriors earlier this month. Representatives for Butler have not yet responded to the lawsuit’s claims.
