Drivers traversing through Assumption Parish should be prepared for delays as construction kicks into high gear on LA 308. The State Project H.015556 will be responsible for 6.763 miles of road work from LA 1011 to Franklin Ave, as reported by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The $1.9 million endeavor is aimed not just to refresh the asphalt but to also improve drainage and ramp up safety with new guardrails and striping.
Starting on Monday, travelers should be prepared to adjust their schedules accordingly. Lane closures will be in effect in both directions of LA 308, up to LA 1008, with work taking place from Monday to Friday, until the end of April. Flaggers will be on-site to help direct the flow of traffic. The Department reassures that one lane will always stay open to ensure the continuity of movement. However, "Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the work zone," as sternly advised by the DOTD.
The closures are a necessary step in the process of laying down a new surface and beefing up the road's defenses against the elements and accidents. Commuters will see teams undertaking milling of the old pavement before laying down fresh asphalt, all in a bid to provide a smoother and more reliable drive. The emphasis on upgraded guardrails is another central piece of this infrastructure puzzle, signaling the state's commitment to road safety.
Although planned with precision, these construction activities are not immune to the whims of the weather. It is noted that the schedule might have to be shuffled should adverse conditions arise. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development wants the public to remember that "These closures are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions." Amid the necessary disruptions, they've issued a plea for patience and caution, reminding everyone to drive carefully past the "work zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."
