
A tragic incident on an Oregon highway has left one person dead and another injured. The fatal event occurred on Wednesday morning when two vehicles collided on Highway 99W near milepost 30 in Yamhill County, according to a report from Oregon State Police. At approximately 9:18 a.m., a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Stephen Jerrold Miller, 28, of Woodland, Washington, was attempting a turn onto Highway 18. As Miller made the turn, his vehicle entered the path of a northbound Toyota Yaris, operated by Christine Da Ai Yoon, 31, of McMinnville, resulting in a side-impact crash.
The impact was severe enough to claim the life of Yoon at the scene, while Miller suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The collision caused a significant disruption on the highway, which remained affected for approximately two and a half hours as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation. Oregon State Police noted that the cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to their release.
Emergency services, including Dayton Fire and Rescue and McMinnville Fire and Rescue, alongside the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), responded to the accident. These teams worked in conjunction to manage traffic control, deliver medical assistance, and commence a thorough investigation into the incident.
