A fatal shooting occurred this morning on the Southwest Side of San Antonio, resulting in one man's death from a gunshot wound to the head. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reports that the incident happened at a home on the 800 block of Cavalier Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m.
An argument between the victim and another individual, who was known to the victim, appears to have been the precursor to the fatal event. Investigators believe the disagreement escalated, eventually leading the suspect to fatally shoot the man. Following the shooting, the suspect is reported to have fled the scene on foot, and as of now, their identity remains a mystery to the public. However, a person was detained soon after the incident, but it's still unclear whether they are connected to the crime as the shooter, as per KENS 5.
The area around the home was cordoned off with crime scene tape as SAPD continued their investigation. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Police are actively working to piece together what transpired, and hope to uncover further details that may lead to an arrest. According to a report by KSAT, the SAPD has yet to confirm the relationship between the detained individual and the incident.
