The Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Fate are tuning up for a collaborative effort to boost the local music industry. On Monday, February 24, they'll conduct a workshop to introduce the Music Friendly Texas Community program, a first-of-its-kind initiative that grooves into economic development through tunes.
Governor Greg Abbott struck a chord when announcing the workshop, "Music is key to the Texas brand and to our local economies," according to a statement published on the governor's website. The program, launched back in 2016, opens a door for cities like Fate to amplify their local music scene, align with industry standards, and attract potential job growth.
During the upcoming session, Gini Mascorro, TMO's Community Relations and Outreach Specialist, will take the stage to elaborate on what it takes to snag that Music Friendly title and what economic encores come with it. Mascorro will also answer any burning questions from attendees, be they musicians or venue owners, offering a behind-the-scenes look into the program.
It's a significant stepping stone for Fate, as moving through these rhythms will put it on the same playlist as over 70 other certified Texas cities. And for those who can't make it in person, there's an online option to join the medley. Either way, input is welcome, harmonizing efforts in-person at The Hub at Fate Station or virtually through the provided meeting link.
Interested parties are encouraged to chime in Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, either at 110 Greenhill Lane or online, with the meeting details accessible through the provided URL. For any queries ahead of the workshop, Shelbi Stofer, Fate's Communications Coordinator, can be dialed in at (469) 318-3712 or reached via email at [email protected].
