A high-speed police chase through the streets of Jonestown ended abruptly this past Saturday, resulting in a dramatic crash and a tense stand-off. According to Fox 7 Austin, Cedar Park Police and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) were in pursuit of a white truck driven by an individual wanted for a felony.
Witness Michele Booth was at the junction of 1431 and Nameless Street when the chase unfolded. "I heard the sirens first, not sure where they were coming from, and then all of a sudden this white truck comes barreling around the corner," Booth told Fox 7 Austin. She captured the incident on video, as the suspect's vehicle fishtailed, shortly before law enforcement closed in.
The encounter escalated when DPS managed to pin the vehicle, as evidenced by the footage provided by Booth. "Holy, s---," exclaimed Booth in a video she sent to Fox 7. "I don’t know where they’re going," she added, noting the surreal nature of the event to Yahoo News.
Though Booth's video captured what sounded like popping noises, Cedar Park Police clarified to Fox 7 Austin that no shots were fired by officers during the incident. It was suggested by Cedar Park Police that the noises could have been pepper balls deployed by DPS. As of Saturday night, details regarding injuries, if any, had not been released.
