A U-Haul theft led to a hit-and-run incident on Wednesday last week, with the female suspect now in custody. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office Blotter, the collision took place in the 14000 block of Pacific Avenue South and involved a stolen U-Haul box truck and a small sedan. Officers responded to the scene around 1:00 pm after the female driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

A group of five men who witnessed the event pursued the suspect. One deputy, Deputy Stutes, quickly apprehended the suspect with the help of the eyewitnesses. It was confirmed that the U-Haul had been stolen.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department responded promptly and detained the suspect. She was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property and leaving the scene of the accident. The suspect's identity has not been released.
