Early this morning, a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and North Speer Boulevard in Denver sent five people to the hospital, as reported by Denver7. The Denver Police Department, having shared news of the accident on social media around 6:15 a.m., said the severity of the injuries sustained was not immediately clear.

Due to the ongoing investigation, northbound Speer and eastbound Colfax were shut down in the wake of the collision. Not long before 8:45 a.m., traffic flowed once again as Denver Police announced the reopening of the affected thoroughfares, as 9NEWS reported. In the chaos of twisted metal and flashing lights, the morning routines of Denverites were disrupted, with alternative routes being sought by those normally traversing the busy intersection.

Authorities, having responded to the scene, have not yet provided details about what might have caused the crash or the condition of those involved. Adding to the preliminary information, KDVR mentioned that the public was advised by the police department to avoid the area while the crash was under investigation.
