A Fontana man has been taken into custody in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on January 26th in Phelan, with the victim succumbing to his wounds early this month. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reported the arrest of Ramiro Liraaro, a 59-year-old Fontana resident, following an intensive investigation that began after the incident which led to the death of 31-year-old Adan Rodriguez of Ontario.

The deputies from the Sheriff’s Victor Valley Station were dispatched in response to an assault with a weapon call at the 6300 block of Cayucos Drive in Phelan. It was at this location the deputies found Rodriguez shot, only to later discover the shooting had taken place at a different residence on La Mesa Road. Despite initial efforts, the suspect managed to initially evade capture, triggering an investigation that would rapidly intensify as Rodriguez's condition deteriorated. On February 4, Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the hospital, prompting officials to upgrade the case to a homicide investigation.

According to official press releases, detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, took over the case and identified Liraaro as the suspect. Cooperation from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division on February 7 culminated in Liraaro's arrest in Fontana. He was subsequently charged with PC 187-Murder and is being held at the Central Detention Center without bail.

As the case proceeds, authorities are continuing to gather evidence and are open to receiving further information. They're actively reaching out to the community for any leads that might provide additional context or insights into the deadly incident.
