In a social media post that appeared to be a plea to his constituents, George criticized what he views as the politicization of his indictment. He stated, "This is not just about me. This should concern every resident of Fort Bend County." George went on to describe his treatment by the authorities as an abuse of power, claiming it was intended to humiliate and intimidate him and his family. He emphasized his dedication and respect for the judiciary, despite the fact that his chief of staff, Taral Patel, is facing similar accusations related to his campaign for a county commissioner seat, according to KHOU.
Judge KP George requested the recusal of District Attorney Brian Middleton and District Judge Christian Becerra, citing conflicts of interest because they control their budgets. Criminal defense attorney Kent Schaffer stated, “It's really not a legal conflict of interest,” explaining that prosecutors often handle cases involving elected officials with budgetary control. George also raised concerns about his treatment during his booking at Fort Bend County Jail, calling the process discriminatory and slanderous. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office responded, saying, “Judge KP George was treated like everyone else that comes into the FBC Jail,” and clarified that while mugshots are public record and ICE is contacted for non-U.S. citizens, no ICE hold was placed on him, as reported by ABC13.
