Starting today, the City’s Community Action Partners (CAP) division is accepting applications for its utility bill payment assistance program. This program aims to provide some financial relief for those struggling to pay their utility bills, following in the footsteps of similar assistance programs that have offered a lifeline to many during tough economic times.
Applicants must hop online for February as the process goes digital; no paper applications will be available now. Those needing to apply can find the relevant application link on CAP’s webpage. However, CAP will not abandon the traditionalists for long—they plan to provide paper applications at various outreach sessions throughout the year, with details available on their web pages and social media platforms.
CAP assists on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the City of Fort Worth, priority is given to the more vulnerable—the elderly aged 60 and above, those living with disabilities, and households with children under the age of 5. This demographic preference recognizes these individuals' precarious balancing act in pursuing basic utilities. Once the monthly allocation limit is reached, the application portal will close, signaling the exhaustion of resources for that period.
