Tarrant County's low-income residents' hearts are a little lighter as the City of Fort Worth's Community Action Partners (CAP) announces the resumption of its utility bill assistance program, set for March. The initiative is designed to ease the burden of electricity and gas/propane bills, providing much-needed relief to those struggling to meet these essential monthly payments.
According to the City of Fort Worth, to be eligible for aid, the CAP program stipulates that applicants must come prepared with a handful of documents at the time of application. A valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or student ID, and income verification for all household members over 18 are required. A recent utility bill with company letterhead, account number, and due date must also be shown. Finally, proof of U.S. legal residency for all adult household members is necessary to complete the application, according to the Community Action Partners website.
Documents acceptable for proving income range from recent pay stubs to pension and SSI award letters, among other official income documentation. The CAP staff will offer assistance on a first-come, first-served basis, highlighting the importance of early engagement for interested parties.
Applications open on March 6th, and Tarrant County residents must apply at the Arlington CAP Center at 401 W. Sanford St., Room 101, Arlington 76011. Doors to the Center will open at 9 a.m., ensuring an early start for those seeking help.
