According to a recent article, Fort Worth took part in the nation's most-watched football event, not through a team, but by contributing to the Superdome's field where the action happened. All-American Tire Recyclers, a company priding itself on its 100% green operations, delivered crumb rubber derived from recycled scrap tires, playing a role in the final game's infrastructural safety and sustainability.

Teaming up with the City of Fort Worth, AATR effectively tackles the menace of scrap tires, a partnership turning what would be waste into materials for city beautification and sports safety. In its latest feat, the eco-friendly initiative saw the subsurface of New Orlean's Caesars Superdome end zones bolstered by rubber from Fort Worth's recycled tires, the rubber itself being a testimony to a city's dedication to a greener stance, the diversion of waste, and the assertion that even in the realm of sports, sustainability can claim a seat.

In the past year, AATR, rising from humble local beginnings, has expanded its influence by recycling over 6 million tires annually and redirecting more than 133 million pounds of rubber from landfills across the country. This concerted effort resonates with the city's residents, actively participating in scrap tire collection events. In November 2024, one such event collected 383 tires, and Fort Worth is set to host three more collection drives this year.

Fort Worth residents can join this green mission at upcoming events, such as the February 22 collection at East Regional Library, March 22 at the Handley Meadowbrook Community Center, and April 12 at the North Tri-Ethnic Community Center.
