Early this morning, an apartment fire in Washington Heights left four people injured, as flames erupted within a residential building. According to ABC7NY, the blaze broke out around 12:40 a.m. on the third floor of an apartment on Wadsworth Avenue. Fire officials have reported that at least one victim is in critical condition.
The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responded rapidly to the scene, and it was reported by PIX 11 that 60 firefighters and EMS personnel managed getting the fire under control by approximately 1:30 a.m. Furthermore, at least two individuals received treatment on the scene but refused further medical attention, suggesting that their injuries might have been less severe despite the event’s potential for greater harm.
As the city stirred before dawn, the cause of the fire remained unknown. FDNY continues to investigate, as reported by ABC7NY and PIX 11.
