In an effort focused on rehabilitation and personal growth, inmates at the Fulton County Jail are graduating from programs aimed at strengthening their roles as fathers as they reenter their communities. According to Atlanta Daily World, the Fathers Incorporated’s “Next Level Fatherhood” program is helping these men build better futures. Twelve fathers, ages ranging from 27 to 52, took part in the 10-week program that emphasized responsibilities, such as conflict resolution and emotional wellness.

Conducted by James "Beau" Gaudreau, the program is not just an academic pursuit but also a journey of personal growth. "Once I had my own kids, I lost my kids. I lost one son in my arms. He died in my arms. Another son, he died in a car wreck. So, for a long time, I thought I didn't want any kids. I don't even like being around people who had kids. It messed with me for so long on the inside," inmate Mitchell Kendrick confided in an interview obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta.

The initiative designed by Fathers Incorporated, a group established in 2004, leverages research and evidence-informed training to offer culturally relevant parenting resources to fathers in low-income communities. Javin Foreman, project director for Gentle Warriors Academy, stressed the importance of equipping these fathers with necessary tools "to ensure they have the tools needed to establish their rights, understand the impact of present and active fatherhood, and ensure they have the resources they need to be productive members of their community again," he told Atlanta Daily World.

The support from Fulton County Sheriff Patrick "Pat" Labat emphasizes the collaborative spirit of these programs, "Today, we celebrate not just the achievements of these 12 graduates, but the power of collaboration and second chances. The Fathers Inc. Program is a testament to our commitment to rebuilding lives and strengthening families," in a statement obtained by Atlanta Daily World, demonstrating a proactive approach to inmate rehabilitation by the local law enforcement.
