Gahanna parks are getting a major safety upgrade with the addition of new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) aimed at ensuring visitors' well-being during outdoor activities. According to the City of Gahanna's official announcement. These devices will be a new fixture in various parks across the area, and they're not just any AEDs – they come housed in climate-controlled cabinets that serve double duty by automatically alerting emergency services when used.
The rollout of these AEDs, which are currently being installed, will see them becoming operational at a selection of parks including Friendship Park, Creekside Plaza, and several others, now when the cabinets are accessed they will trigger an alarm and simultaneously send a dispatch signal to emergency responders, and this integration aims to cut response times and increase the chances of survival in case of cardiac events. The full list spans eight parks and includes Upper McCorkle Park, Sunpoint Park, Woodside Green Park, Academy Park, Headley Park, and Hannah Park, with anticipation running high for these devices to be fully operational in the coming weeks.
While Gahanna residents and visitors will soon benefit from the installations, the rollout isn't stopping there. A ninth AED is scheduled for installation at Shull Park later this year, rounding out an extensive effort to blanket the community's outdoor recreation spaces with this crucial life-saving technology. Offering a significant enhancement to the safety measures already in place, these AEDs serve as an ever-ready solution, standing sentinel in the event of an unforeseen medical emergency.
