The Galt Police Department has reported the arrest of a DUI hit-and-run suspect following a collision involving a motorcyclist. According to a social media post by the Galt Police Department, the motorcyclist sustained only minor injuries despite being struck by a Ford SUV.
Earlier today, a witness observed the incident near W. Stockton Blvd/Twin Cities Rd. and swiftly contacted the GPD with updates on the suspect's whereabouts. The male driver was later found by officers at a shopping center located in the 1000 block of C St., exhibiting high levels of intoxication to the point of not recalling the collision.
The suspect, who had two prior DUI convictions and was on DUI court probation, showed a blood alcohol content (BAC) twice the legal limit. Notably, DUI probation imposes a stricter requirement, stipulating that a person cannot have a BAC higher than .01%. The Galt Police Department's statement detailed that the individual was booked into Sac County Main Jail on felony charges of DUI, felony hit-and-run, and additional DUI-related misdemeanors.
