For Mardi Gras 2025, Galveston is increasing security measures following a deadly attack in New Orleans. The city will implement a series of traffic closures, restricting access to certain areas, including stretches of the Seawall, according to ABC13.
Mardi Gras Galveston will take place from February 21 to March 4, featuring parades, concerts, and balcony parties on The Strand. The event will include Golden Bead Prizes with rewards such as luxury cruises and international flights. Seawall Blvd will be closed from 25th to 61st Streets, causing traffic disruptions. This year's Grand Marshals are Mike Doherty, Kenneth Shelton, Eric Berger, and Matt Lanza, who will lead different parades. Attendees should plan parking and travel routes due to the no-drive zones on the Seawall, as detailed by CW39.
Carol Dale, a resident of 25th Street in Galveston, told ABC13, "As soon as Christmas is over, we start decorating for Mardi Gras and looking forward to the party." This year, in addition to the celebrations, the city is focusing on safety. Streets like 25th will be closed from Seawall to Market, and there will be a safety plan in place for the event. Mardi Gras 2025 will feature a variety of activities, including the Brent Michaels show, with an emphasis on following safety measures during the festivities.
