Three individuals were injured on Sunday in a gas explosion that occurred inside a business on Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles. Details emerged as NBC Los Angeles reported the explosion happened around 3:21 p.m. within a single-story commercial structure. While the three patients were immediately transported to local hospitals, reports on the severity of their injuries were not immediately available.
Complementing that account, CBS News Los Angeles stated firefighters quickly responded to the emergency call. Upon arrival, they found three people with injuries from the explosion, which was triggered by a gas leak. Firefighters confirmed that one of the victims was in critical condition, while the other two remained stable. The site of the chaos appeared to be a bus transit service, with ample emergency vehicles surrounding the damaged edifice. Yet, additional information regarding the incident was sparse.
As authorities began to piece together the circumstances leading up to the explosion, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Arson and Explosives Detail launched an investigation. According to a post on elalasd's Instagram, their deputies and fire department personnel were deployed to the scene. They stressed that while a full assessment of the damage was still underway, road closures expected to be lifted within hours. As the community awaits a fuller picture of the events that transpired, the precise cause of the gas leak and subsequent explosion remains under active investigation.
