George Clooney is stepping from the silver screen to the Broadway stage, taking his directorial hit "Good Night, and Good Luck" to live theater for the first time in decades. Clooney, a two-time Oscar winner, admitted to the New York Post that the idea of performing on stage is "terrifying," adding, "I haven’t done a play in 40 years … so it’s terrifying."

The show will open for previews on March 12, with Clooney starring as legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow. Clooney chose this role because of a personal connection—his father was a newsman for four decades. In an interview with abc7NY, he said, "It really it is. My father was an Anchorman for 40 years, and he's still feisty. You know, he's gonna come to the he's gonna come see the play, and I'm sure I'll get some brutal notes about journalism from my dad. But yeah, I'm very proud of the person that my father has been his whole life and career. He taught me all the things that I believe in, and I'm and it's, and it's, I'm proud to represent his craft."

Clooney is taking a bold step with this historical drama about Murrow's confrontation with Senator Joseph McCarthy. He believes the story is still relevant, stating to abc7NY, "Unfortunately, this is a story that has been relevant for 100 years and continues to be relevant. I think it's a good time to always remind ourselves of us at our best. And Murrow was us at our best."

The production, opening officially in April at the Winter Garden Theatre, will run until June 8. Clooney also addressed rumors about Brad Pitt attending, saying he isn't coming and jokingly added that they are supposedly fighting. He mentioned that Brad is currently shooting a movie, but once he's done, they plan to work together on another film soon.
