The ceremony, presented by the Society of Information Management Memphis Chapter along with cityCURRENT, is set to take place in Memphis, acknowledging the sharpest minds in tech innovation across the region, according to the city's official announcement.
Fischer's tenure spans over three decades in the technology sector, with 13 years dedicated to navigating Germantown's digital terrain. He was pivotal in upholding essential services and safeguarding the city's systems during last year's cybersecurity upheaval. In addition to his municipal duties, his repertoire of skills includes a 20-year run as a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Communications Specialist, aiding significantly in the orchestration of emergency operations amid crises. His dual expertise in IT and disaster response has not only bolstered Germantown's resilience but also underscored the significance of preparedness in our hyperconnected world.
The accolade spotlights Fischer's pivotal contributions and serves as an emblem of his exceptional crisis management abilities. As noted by Germantown's official announcement, "With more than 30 years in technology, Fischer has led Germantown’s IT operations for over 13 years and played a crucial role in the City’s response to the 2024 cybersecurity incident, ensuring service continuity and system security." This recognition will be formally bestowed on February 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the FedEx Event Center at Shelby Farms Park.
