In a move to strengthen the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Governor Greg Abbott has named Heisha Freeman to the panel with duties that prominently include regulation and oversight of pharmaceutical practices across the Lone Star State. Freeman's term, which swings into motion immediately, is slated to endure until the tail end of August 2029, assuming she runs through the gauntlet of Senate confirmation.
Freeman steps into this role with a portfolio that is, if nothing else, diverse and expansive. She currently holds the title of executive vice president and chief customer officer at MoveCenter. This appointment seemingly intends to fuse her varied experience in customer relations, nonprofit leadership, and committed community engagement into the sphere of pharmaceutical regulation. Her ongoing commitments include the role of corporate secretary and board member at I Belong, coupled with her founding of Special Needs Parents of North Texas, as noted by Governor Abbott's press release.
A graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Austin College and a Master of Business Administration from Quantic School of Business and Technology, Freeman's educational background directly complements her professional endeavors. Her previous non-profit work stretches across various sectors, from her tenure as a board secretary of the Texas State Independent Living Council to her board membership at The Arc of Texas DFW Area.
Freeman's resume also outlines her roles as a former coach and steering committee member for the Special Olympics Texas and a past board member of Agape Resource and Assistance Center, Help Stop Cruelty to Animals, and the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
