Asserting that "Education excellence is what we're trying to achieve," the Governor stressed the importance of providing parents the means to dictate the educational pathways for their children, pledging to work with the Texas Legislature to ensure these options are broadened.

A raft of promises accompanied Governor Abbott's show of support for school choice, he affirmed an intent to drive public school funding to unparalleled levels, as well as hiking teacher salaries, declaring "We must become No. 1 in educating our students, and the pathway to achieve that is through school choice," marking the topic as a critical issue in the 89th Legislative Session. 

Joining Governor Abbott at the event was a cadre of notable figures including Representative Janie Lopez, Edinburg Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Diaz, and heads of Harvest Christian Academy Joe Cruz and Joshua Andrade, among other advocates for education reform. Together, they echoed the sentiment that expanding school choice should be a fortified right for families across rural, urban, and suburban Texas.
