The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has recently given the green light to a series of infrastructure enhancements, aimed at the renovation of local roadways and the addition of pedestrian walkways across the county. In a meeting held on February 18, a total of six term contracts were awarded, amassing a hefty $36 million for the purpose of resurfacing over 119 miles of residential streets

The approved contracts, to be managed by Stewart Brothers, Inc. and Scruggs Company, respectively, cover a range of improvements. These include essential pavement patching, asphalt milling, asphalt topping, and the crucial adjustments of water valve and manhole covers, not to forget the implementation of new pavement markings, according to official statements from Gwinnett County.

In a move to boost pedestrian access, the Board has also endorsed the construction of new sidewalks along Pucketts Mill Road, from Lilly Way to Hamilton Mill Road. This initiative is set to introduce curb and gutter installations, together with crucial drainage enhancements, ultimately improving pedestrian connectivity and safety within the area.

Funding for the sidewalk expansion project, which was contracted to Backbone Infrastructure, LLC for a sum of $491,753, has been secured through the 2017 SPLOST program.
