Gwinnett County Police are currently investigating what they suspect to be a murder-suicide case in Duluth. According to information released by the department, officers responded to a call for a welfare check around 10:30 pm on Thursday at an apartment located at 1655 Centerview Drive after family members expressed concern for an uncle they had not heard from in several days.

The call for a welfare check was prompted by a disturbing message, deemed by one of the relatives to potentially be a suicide note from their uncle. Upon arrival, officers found the doors to be secured from within, leading them to forcefully gain entry into the home. Inside, they discovered two bodies: an adult female and an adult male. The Gwinnett County Police statement noted the preliminary investigation found the female to have died from strangulation, while the male appeared to have died from hanging.

Investigative teams from the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and Medical Examiner's office were summoned to the scene to further scrutinize the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Although autopsies are yet to be performed to establish the official causes of death, law enforcement personnel have yet to identify any additional parties involved in the incident, pointing to a closed situation between the two deceased individuals.
