During a routine traffic stop in Hermosa Beach, California police discovered a loaded gun and drugs close to an infant, leading to the arrest of two individuals, officials said. The stop, which took place in the 100 block of 15th Street near downtown, also revealed that the male driver of the vehicle was sought on felony warrants, KTLA reported.

According to the FOX LA news report, the female passenger was detained while the officers conducted a search, which yielded the troubling contents of the diaper bag. Although the relationship between the suspects and details of the male's felony warrants weren't disclosed, the presence of such dangerous items in proximity to a child is unsettling.

In a video released by the Hermosa Beach Police Department, body-worn camera footage shows an officer discovering the firearm and a small plastic bag suspected to contain narcotics inside the diaper bag. "I didn’t know that I wasn’t supposed to have a gun. I didn’t know that it was like that, seriously," the woman told officers during the incident, per KTLA. The sharp rebuttal from an officer underscores the potential danger, "It’s a loaded firearm. All it takes is one click, like if she grabbed that or something?"

The female suspect was charged with child endangerment among other offenses following the discovery. The 2-month-old child was taken into protective custody by the Department of Children Services, an Instagram post by Hermosa Beach Police detailed.
