According to a Facebook post by the City of Roseville, California Police Department, the driver initially complied with the stop but then suddenly accelerated, turning a simple infraction into a felony flight.

The chase was short-lived, as the driver soon discovered that high speeds are no substitute for driving prowess; the vehicle met its demise not on the track but on the unforgiving concrete of real life. After their car's crash course in physics, the suspects tried to continue their ill-fated escape on foot. According to the Roseville Police Department, "They are not faster than our officers... or a helicopter." The suspects were booked into Placer County Jail "at a legal speed," according to the police department. No serious injuries were reported.
