Hillsborough County law enforcement has arrested a man in connection with a murder case linked to a drug overdose. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, 48-year-old Joseph Bellamy was taken into custody on Tuesday. Investigators determined that Bellamy allegedly supplied narcotics to 36-year-old Shawn Wallace, who was found dead from an overdose on December 29, 2023, in Valrico.
Detectives conducted an intensive investigation into Wallace's death, leading to Bellamy's arrest. He faces a First-Degree Murder charge related to the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Bellamy was taken into custody without incident. Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, "Selling dangerous narcotics isn’t just a crime; it’s a direct threat to lives in our community," as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
