Bringing locals a breath of fresh air amidst the hustle of urban routine, Hillsborough County is hosting its annual Hiking Spree, and it's hitting the midpoint with a special event. According to the county's official announcement, the Mid-Spree Summit will take place this Saturday, March 1, inviting participants to maintain their stride or just start their journey amidst Hillsborough's natural splendor.
The Summit is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at the Stephen J. Wortham Park, where admission comes at no cost but does require registration. Prospective attendees can either sign up online through the Mid-Spree Summit Registration or register on-site the event day. On offer, participants will find a range of activities from guided hikes and family games to food trucks and a hands-on trail-mix station, as well as educational materials and community resources up for grabs.
Now in its ninth year, the Hiking Spree, which kicked off on December 1st and will run until April 30, manages to pull thousands into Hillsborough's assorted parks and preserves each year. As detailed on the county's newsroom page, complete at least eight trails off the list of nearly two dozen set in 21 different locales to net a special reward – be it a limited-edition patch, a walking stick medallion, or a pet bandana for your four-legged friend.
