
An incident unfolded yesterday in Park Township when a 64-year-old Holland man lost his life after his vehicle collided with multiple power poles. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene on Riley Street near Timberpine Avenue shortly after 5:10 p.m., WZZM13 reports.
The man was driving westbound when his car veered off the road, resulting in the vehicle flipping over, deputies explained. Upon their arrival, the man was found to be unresponsive inside his car, and deputies initiated lifesaving attempts. The individual was pronounced dead after being taken to Holland Community Hospital, as per a release from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office obtained by FOX17 News.
As a result of the crash, Riley Street faced temporary closure to facilitate the cleanup of the accident site and to handle the downed powerlines, which added to the difficulty of the situation for local residents and the cleanup crews alike.
The severity of the crash was indicated by several power poles overturned along Riley Street, suggesting the force of the vehicle’s impact, according to the Holland Sentinel. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office has not yet released additional details about the incident but has stated that it is committed to thoroughly investigating the fatal event.
