The job fair will roll out the welcome mat for federal employees who've found themselves on the business end of layoffs and resignations instigated by recent federal policy changes. Hawaiʻi State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Director Jade T. Butay told the Governor's Office news release, "We invite individuals impacted by recent federal policy changes to explore career opportunities within our department or consider other state positions." The department is not only offering immediate job openings but also an expedited hiring process for those looking to continue public service.
Lending a supportive hand, Department of Human Resources Development Director Brenna H. Hashimoto emphasized the value of federal workers, stating in Governor's Office news release, "We value the experience and dedication of federal workers." She added, "We are eager to welcome those impacted by the changes at the federal level to our workforces, as we believe they will make an immediate, positive impact."
The two-hour job fair will be hosted in Honolulu, offering a platform for job seekers to meet hiring managers, take part in on-the-spot interviews, and receive assistance with applications for Hawaiʻi State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations divisions. With eager attendance expected, attendees are invited to explore open positions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 830 Punchbowl St., Rooms 310, 313, and 314. These efforts illustrate a proactive approach by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to not only address labor shortages but to also integrate experienced individuals into new roles within the state workforce, as per the Governor's Office.
